Dredging industry – Nozzles & Bow Thrusters

Bow thruster tunnels and gearboxes are often subject to various kinds of “corrosion”. The combination of water velocity and solid particles (such as sand) creates an abrasive erosion in these parts. If a stainless steel liner is used to protect the tunnel wall around the propeller against “cavitation” this can lead to a strong galvanic effect (in combination with the bronze propeller) on either side of the stainless steel liner.
